Pordenone, Italy based heavy psych/stoner rock trio Veuve dropped their highly anticipated new album »Pole« on November 15th, 2024 via Go Down Records. This latest sonic excursion from the band promises to be their most ambitious and immersive work yet, blending heavy, fuzzed-out riffs with psychedelic textures and a touch of progressive experimentation.
»Pole« represents a further evolution of Veuve’s musical approach. Regarding song composition, it marks a passage over the two previous albums. Each song has been initially inspired by extended, tripping jam sessions and then developed into a cohesive flow of music. The tracks’ structures are often unconventional and unexpected. However, they maintain the “stoner cornerstones” with heavily fuzzed guitars and bass, accompanied by big, fat drumming. Ultimately, »Pole« combines the band’s diverse influences, ranging from the Canterbury scene to 90s post-metal.
Veuve are Andrea Carlin (drums, percussion), Riccardo Quattrin (bass, vocals) and Stefano Crovato (guitar).
Can you say a few words about your band?
Veuve is a heavy psych/stoner rock power trio formed in Pordenone, Italy, in 2013. The band combines Kyuss-inspired heavy riffing with clean, dreamy, and evocative passages, starting their path in the heavy rock and fuzz-oriented genre. Over the years, we continued to release more music, embracing prog-rock, psychedelic soundscapes, and post-rock influences. We draw inspiration from bands such as Elder, All Them Witches, and Motorpsycho.
The outfit debuted with a self-titled EP (2015 self-released), featuring authentic fuzz-focused early songs. The first full-length »Yard« (2016 Acid Cosmonaut / The Smoking Goat Records), collected a broader range of sounds, incorporating more psychedelic and Post-rock elements.
»Fathom« (2019, Argonauta Records) is our sophomore record, delving deeper into a musical quest with a more progressive approach to songwriting while keeping a heavy rock style.
In 2024, we signed to Go Down Records with our third studio album »Pole«.
Veuve shared the stage with bands like Naxatras, Stoned Jesus, 1000mods, Monkey3, and many others.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
We think that the biggest challenge for Veuve was the overall situation across the recordings of our second full-length »Fathom«. During the drums recording sessions we had to face a change of lineup, with Stefano joining the band. At that time, we continued the recording sessions and we also had some gigs ahead of us. With a bit of effort, we managed to complete everything, as Stefano learned in zero time both old and new songs.
What can you be most proud of so far?
The best sensation ever and what makes us proud of what we are doing is seeing the people enjoying our music during live shows. It’s really a pleasure to receive good feedback from the attending people, whether it is a big or a small stage.
We are also very proud of our recent release »Pole« and the feedback that we are now receiving.

What was your biggest regret?
We think that, in some ways, this can be connected to your second question. We recognized that the recordings of »Fathom« were a bit of a rush: we managed to record everything as planned without changing and modelling the songs with the influence of the new entry Stefano. Maybe, after some rearrangements, »Fathom« could have been a better product in terms of quality of sounds and choices, and please take this statement as our personal opinion.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Best one at the moment has been the Westill Festival in 2021 for sure. We had the honor of sharing the stage with Monkey3, 1000mods and many other good bands and the crowd was extremely warm and welcoming. We arrived after an 8-hour drive directly from another gig in Switzerland without sleep and rest, but it really was worth the effort: as soon as we climbed the stage our tiredness was completely gone.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We are positively surprised about the news that the Italian band Messa have recently signed with Metal Blade Records! We are so happy for them and the path they’re taking in the scene.
Another surprise was the recent and unexpected change in lineup of the band All Them Witches. As listeners, it was sad to see the news of Robby’s departure. Anyway, we are looking forward to seeing them live and curious to hear new music with the new formation.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Even if we’re playing psych/stoner rock, we actually listen to various musical genres. Stefano is more into the progressive and metal scene, for example now he’s listening to Tesseract, whilst Riccardo covers a wide area, listening to Motorpsycho, Hallas, Kanaan, Queens Of The Stone Age, Earthless and King Gizzard… Andrea is stable inside the psych/stoner area, at the moment listening to King Buffalo, Graveyard, Valley Of The Sun, Pallbearer etc.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Someone once told us to play with 100% of the energy at every concert, without taking in consideration how famous the venue is or how many people are in front of the stage. Every venue and every type of audience deserves a good performance. We think that this is real and accurate and that it’s a path that a lot of musicians must follow.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Stated that Stefano is also a Sommelier, we never miss a chance to hold a glass of wine or a can of beer during rehearsals time or stage time or even during free time together.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Pordenone?
In the past few years, we saw an increasing number of people coming across the live music scene, embracing various music genres. A shout-out goes to Go Down Records, RottenRoll, Urban Infection, Crossroad, Pietrasonica Fest that are just a few of the organizations that promote live music in our region.
Where can we see you live soon (concerts/tours)?
We are in the process of booking next year’s gigs. At the moment we’ve fixed a few dates around Northern Italy between April and May 2025. There is also the idea of a European tour during fall 2025 but you’ll need to follow us for more news to come.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Tour and gigs aside, we are already working on some new music that will follow our latest release »Pole«.
Do you have any special plans for New Year’s Eve?
This year we will be in different places: Riccardo will enjoy his newborn baby while Andrea is going on vacation in Egypt. Stefano will probably taste some good wine with friends.
How can people best support your band?
By following us on our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp), buying our merch and music and by listening us on the available streaming platforms. More importantly by coming to our next gigs (we will announce them soon).
Do you have any message for your listeners?
We encourage them to listen to our new record »Pole«, just released with Go Down Records. It marks a passage in our sound quest and it is the result of a growth in awareness and musical tastes. We worked a lot to refine and shape the songs within the album, and we are really happy and proud about the final result.
Finally, we wish to see you under the stage in the next months, so you can taste »Pole« not only as digital and physical support but also as a live experience.
