Burn The Ocean is a four-piece grunge/stoner/heavy rock band hailing from Genoa, Italy.
Their sound is often described as modern, fresh, heavy yet organic and intimate. You can easily find the band jumping from a “radio ready” song to a more classic yet dirty rock one always trying to maintain its huge and groovy impact sound without resulting too much derivative.
Following their latest studio album »Modern Ruins« (Argonauta Records, 2023), Burn The Ocean just released new covers EP »Us« on April 12th, 2024.
Burn The Ocean are Fabio Palombi (guitar, vocals), Emanuele “Shuster” Pecollo (guitar, vocals), Massimo “Kabuto” Repetto (bass) and Chris Parisi (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are close to our 10th birthday, published 2 full albums, some singles and we just released a new EP called »Us« consisting of 4 covers from some of our all time favorite bands. We went through a couple of line up changes happened between our first and the second album and now we have a rock solid line up. We play a mixture of rock and metal heavily inspired by the 90’s rock and hard rock scene but we try to be very open with our songwriting.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
I would say that surviving the line up changes and publish our last album has been very demanding and difficult.. it took us almost 4 years, but now we have a very solid line up and a very good relationship between us.
What can you be most proud of so far?
I’m always very proud of what we do as a band because that kind of emotions is what keeps us on track and always full of energy.
What was your biggest regret?
I definitely prefer looking at the future and try to avoid losing my time looking at the past, but beside that, sometimes I’m curious of what could have been of my musical career If only I could have used the experience I have now in my 20s… who knows!

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
15 years ago I was the singer of a death metal band called Nerve and took part of a couple of European tours with Decapitated, Hate and Incantation… those days are the best memories of my musical career.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
You know… I’m getting older, and I’m in my 40s… I don’t know if I lost my interest in modern music but I know I still have the same thirst for finding good music as when I was a young boy buying magazines, listen to the radio and discover new tunes… but has been while since I feel in love for a new band and I always find myself listening to what I really love. I mean.. I was really into metal in my 20s and you can’t just compare the quality and the freshness of the bands I used to listen to compared to what the actual scene has to offer now.. speaking of rock music.. I think that the situation can be considered slightly better, but it still lacks of big bands that has the force to change the world we live in with their music. Change my mind!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Well… I just shoot some names in random order: Better Lovers, Whores, Aborted, Gojira, Spiritbox, Bring Me The Horizon and Architects, Every Time I Die, Fontaines DC…
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Be humble and respectful, follow your heart and always try to do your very own thing.
What are your guilty pleasures?
I’m currently seeking for a simple yet satisfying life… so I would say, work less, earn more money and just enjoy my time.
Can you say something more about the music scene in Genoa?
We are from Genoa, Northern Italy. The local scene used to wild and maybe still is in some ways, but there was a time when you could go out and enjoy a lot of concerts in different places in our hometown during the same night… right now, there are still a lot of bands, but it’s very difficult to find a place to play cause they are closed.. this is frustrating. I have faith that the new generations will have the force to change the situation and create some spaces with their own hands exactly as we did years ago.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We are currently working on new album, the are no other plans right now than writing the best album we can.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We are working on live album which will be released as a video and audio. The live set was recorded a year ago during the release party for »Modern Ruins« in a sold out show in our hometown. Also, we are working on new stuff planning a 2025 release.
How can people best support your band?
Keeping in touch with us, following us on Spotify, YouTube and all our social platforms and simply listening to our music a let us know if they like it!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Take your time with our and other people music, dig into it, enjoy it, experience it.. we live in very fast times, do less, but take your time to really enjoy what you’re doing.
