Doomed Nation

Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Jeb Laird (The Fibre…)

The Fibre… is a sludge/doom metal duo from Western North Carolina. They just released their self-titled debut album on January 1st, 2025 via Kvlt Kastle Records.

A blend of crushing doom metal and groovy stoner riffs, this album delves deep into themes of isolation, regret, and the rebirth that follows. Every track is a journey into the shadows, a cathartic exploration of pain and renewal.

The Fibre… consists of Jeb Laird (Krvsade, ex-Ape Vermin) on bass/vocals/synth and William Deal (Guiltless, ex-Ape Vermin) on drums/vocals.

Can you say a few words about your band?
The Fibre… is a two-man bass and drum sludge metal project, the goal is to make the most out of less.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Members, the band came about from the lack of personnel available, so we cut the fat and made due with just bass guitar and drum kit.

What can you be most proud of so far?
This last album (»The Fibre…« LP).

What was your biggest regret?
Not making amends with a former friend who is gone now. There’s too many regrets in life, it’s all about the days and decisions that follow after.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We played a basement show last year, packed out, tons of great energy, tons of shirts sold.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Well its not a suprise, but most of people have total apathy towards what you do. Except of the badass that runs Doomed Nation!

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Acid Bath, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Morbid Angel, Godflesh, Hank Williams Jr, Electric Wizard.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
You can change how you do things, but it’s impossible to change others.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Drinking beer and Racing (Online).

Can you say something more about current music scene in Valdese / North Carolina?
North Carolina has a good enough music scene. But in our genre, and in our area, it’s pretty desolate.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Anywhere in the NC/SC are fair game. We will post dates on our Facebook page.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Just keep writing and doing better things.

How can people best support your band?
Likes, follows and shares. Purchasing albums too, but we don’t do music for money.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
The world is full of hate. Be a voice of courage and peace to the ones you love.
