Kant is a 70’s inspired, heavy psychedelic rock band Kant from Aschaffenburg, Germany. They are about to release their sophomore studio album »Paranoia Pilgrimage« on September 27th, 2024 via Sound Of Liberation Records.

On »Paranoia Pilgrimage«, Kant present a departure from their previous sound. Recorded live in a small studio in the woods of Germany’s Black Forest, Kant remain true to their 70’s inspired approach to music making. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Black Sabbath, Witchcraft, and Horisont, the album transports the listener into a mystical realm teeming with occultism, prophecy, and mystical beings.

Kant are Elena Strähle (bass), Brain Göbel (drums), Marius Seidel (guitar, vocals) and Nicolas Jordan (guitar, vocals).

Can you say a few words about your band?
Hello everybody, we are KANT from Aschaffenburg, Germany. We play a mixture of psychedelic and heavy rock music inspired by the 70s.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Maybe getting confronted with the challenge of finding a new drummer in 2022. Our former drummer Ole left the band and we stood in front of the challenge to find a proper and long-time replacement, wich was quite hard, considered that there are only 70.000 people in our hometown. So we posted an add on social media and then we found the best drummer we could ever imagine, the one and only Bryan Göbel who massively formed the sound of the drums we have today.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Being where we are right now. It all grew pretty organic. And we have everything we want. Release new music and then playing shows. We’re also very proud to work with Sound Of Liberation! They really know what they’re doing!

What was your biggest regret?
That’s a tough one. We really don’t regret anything as far as I can think.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
There are two experiences that were the most impressing. The first one was our first, self booked, tour in autumn of 2023. Completely unprepared we played 8 shows in 10 days and we underestimated everything. But it was loads of fun and connected us even more as a band.
The second one was playing in Munich at the Olympiapark in the end of August this year. Beautiful scenery, loads of people who dug the sound, a great and dynamic show from ourselves and great musicians opening and playing before us. It was just the perfect evening and we’ll remember this one for a long time!

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
That everybody is so nice. You know, you have this image of a scene as competitive and quite lonely as an artist but I think our scene of vintage/heavy/stoner rock in Germany is all about having friendly connections with each other.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
I can only speak for me and it’s:
Earth Tongue – Great Haunting (the entire album)
Witchcraft – s/t (the entire album)
Eternal Champion – I Am The Hammer

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Maybe not getting that much of advices and learning and finding out everything by ourselves.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Energy drinks on the road and shitty 2010 hits in the bus.

Can you say something more about current music scene in Aschaffenburg / Germany?
Aschaffenburg has a very vibrant music scene. A much bigger one than Frankfurt, which is the closest bigger city. We got great venues and a great support of the people who live there!

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We’re gonna play a couple of shows in October but mainly in Germany. If somebody is interested seeing us live, follow us on Instagram (@kant.music) or check out our website www.kant-music.de and you’ll get updated as soon as something new is booked! But maybe we’ll hit the road to play shows around Europe next year. Let’s see 🙂

What are your plans for the future as a band?
The same as we are doing now but more and larger I guess. The same stuff every band is looking forward for in the future. Playing shows with our upcoming album next year, maybe record the third one, playing shows with it afterwards and so on! 🙂

How can people best support your band?
Listening to our upcoming album »Paranoia Pilgrimage«, show it to your friends, go to concerts and maybe getting a Shirt or some other stuff. But mainly listen to our music 🙂

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Of course we’d like to thank everybody who is enjoying the music we make. The journey is starting now, come with us and see where it’ll bring us all!
