Doomed Nation

Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Pascal David (Atomic Vulture)

Atomic Vulture is an instrumental stoner/space rock trio from Brugge, Belgium. The band consists of Pascal David on guitar, Kris Hoornaert on bass and Jens Van Hollebeke on drums.

They sound old-school, dusty and they rock like the center of the sun. Swirling grooves, thunderous driving beats and hot bass lines.

Their tracks have a divine atmosphere, often swinging between fuzzed out grooves and a more ambient style, not forgetting to add some psyched or even doom aesthetics from time to time.

Dive into a cosmic odyssey where the boundaries of space and time blur, as Atomic Vulture ventures deeper into the unexplored realms of the universe. Building upon their signature instrumental stoner rock sound, the band transports listeners to distant galaxies, weaving sonic tapestries that resonate with celestial energy.

The three desert cosmonauts have played on festivals such as Alcatraz Festival, Desertfest, Red Smoke, Down The Hill,… and did several European tours, sharing the stage with many bands, including Kadavar, Conan, Greenleaf, Monkey3, Black Rainbows, Colour Haze, Dopelord, Spiders, Fatso Jetson and more.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Conceived in 2011, Atomic Vulture is an instrumental three piece stoner/space rock outfit from Belgium.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The covid period was certainly a challenge: we could not rehearse and could not play any gigs. We released our previous album (»Moving Through Silence«) during that period, and that was not evident at all, as we only could release it online.
Also, the post-covid period is challenging: getting gigs has become more difficult and touring has become nearly impossible.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We are extremely proud about our new album, »Pilgrims Of The Sun«. It’s our 4th studio album and it just has been released. With each new album we try to surpass the previous album in terms of songwriting and production. Based on the great reception of this self-released album, we can conclude that we managed to do so!

What was your biggest regret?
The most painful thing: In spring 2020 we had set-up a tour to France, Spain, Portugal, but we had to cancel the entire tour due to the covid breakout.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Best tour: 3 weeks in Germany – Poland – Czech Republik in 2015. It was our first big tour. It was hot, and we did many great gigs, including cool festivals such as Red Smoke.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The Belgium band Gnome started as a modest riff-playing band, but with their catchy songs and funny clips, they suddenly skyrocketed and now they are huge! Good on them!

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
The new album of Greenleaf is currently the most played album. I mainly listen to it while on the road and it gets better with every spin.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Stay true to yourself and believe in what you do.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I’m not a huge meat eater, I can easily stay a week without, but when there’s raw minced meat in front of me, I can’t resist it!

Can you say something more about the music scene in Brugge / Belgium?
Our cities have quite a lively scene, there are lots of live gigs, not necessarily rock oriented, but there’s a lot going on, including many festivals (big and small ones) in summer!

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We have several shows coming up in Belgium in fall, in the cities Brugge, Ghent and Antwerp.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
We want to keep growing as a band and play on festival and other stages for audiences that enjoy instrumental stoner rock. We would love to go on tour again and, for sure, we plan to make more records in the future.

How can people best support your band?
The best way to support us is by buying any of our merch on live shows our on our Bandcamp page. As we are fully self-supportive and we invest all our income on our band, this really helps us to keep doing what we do.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you for listening to our music, it is really touching to realise that our creations are appreciated and they can contribute to positive feelings around the globe!
