Doomed Confessionary: Rich, Kolki & Steffen (Wolves Of Saturn)

Wolves Of Saturn is a stoner/space rock trio based out of Dresden, Germany.
During a world wide pandemic the three members of Wolves Of Saturn cut off any connections to the outside and find together in a WW2 bunker in a tiny German village. Deep below the surface, between the massive silence of the earth, they create and self record the songs for their first LP.
The narrowness of the space leaves its marks, the desire for freedom and unfolding becomes a fundamental part of the songs. The sound paves its way through the underground to the top. In the endless expanse of the desert he learns to fly and takes you with him on a unique trip.
»The Deserts Echo And The Peyote Delusion« was originally released on April 1st, 2023 via Clostridium Records and re-released in the US on December 13th, 2024 through Herby Records.
Wolves Of Saturn are Rich (guitar, organ, synth, vocals), Kolki (bass) and Steffen (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are Wolves Of Saturn, a desert root rock band from Dresden (Germany). We are 3 people and we just wanna have fun 🙂
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
I would say to find a guitar with a body that is big enough that it won’t look like a children’s guitar on the super tall singer/guitar player Rich. It looks like that a Rivolta Mondata is a good choice now.
What can you be most proud of so far?
That our first album »The Deserts Echo And The Peyote Delusion« was re-released in the United States on Herby Records just before Christmas 2024.
What was your biggest regret?
That probably we did not do this like 10 years earlier 😀
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We played Höllenschuppen stage at Burg Herzberg Festival in summer 2024. It is the highest situated stage at Burg Herzberg Festival from where you overlook the whole area and all the thousands of freaks. It was an unforgettable view from there.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The Kiffness – »They Are Eating The Dogs«.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
»MTV Unplugged« by Alice In Chains, »Lightning At The Door« by All The Witches, »Octopus« by Blackdrop and »So Divided« by And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
That D minor is probably the saddest key of all time.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Stroking and licking my guitar before I play them.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Dresden?
We do love musicians, promoters, bookers and bands who are open-minded, friendly and really carrying, who do not look for their own interests all the time and who stand up for each other. Honestly, that already disqualifies a lot.
The sad thing is that we are living in a world, where money and egos are ruling. We know that this is forcing a lot of people to do what they are doing. We know that this is killer for experiments and creativity.
We are very lucky to know a lot of good people and try to be as good as described above ourselves.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We will be playing a Scandinavian tour in March.
19.03. – Berlin, Junction Bar
20.03. – Copenhagen, Lygtens Kro
21.03. – Motala, Bomber Bar
22.03. – Stockholm, Gamla Enskede Bryggeri
23.03. – Oslo, Brewgata
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We will continue to do what we love and where we have a glue – music. But we also will continue to do where we do not have a glue – all this promotion, booking and marketing stuff.
So far this combination have brought us some awesome experiences and adventures. Just like that, it can proceed.
Did you have any special plans for New Year’s Eve?
To be somewhere else.
How can people best support your band?
Check our social media profiles, we are about to play more shows in Europe. We would love to see you there. Don’t support us on Spotify or all these other stupid plattforms where they give a sh*t on the bands, use Bandcamp.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Safe the underground music by visiting concerts of your local bands. You will be surprised how damn good some of them are.
Rather spend your money by going to 10 local concerts instead of going to one concert of the next farewell tour of Deep Purple. Believe us, they do not need that money anymore.
