“With an instinctive desire for chaos, Red Mess is inspired by numerous bands and artists of the underground Brazilian scene that succeed in making dirty sounding records.”
The trio was founded in 2013 in Londrina, Brazil, with Douglas (drums) and Thiago (guitar) having known each other since childhood, but with the arrival of bassist Lucas, it gained structure and became one of the most exciting bands in the Brazilian rock underground.
In 2017, Red Mess were invited to a Brazil tour by Ukraine’s Stoned Jesus. They are currently shifting their focus to Europe and want to gain a foothold here. Musically, the band moves between the fixed points of progressive and stoner rock. So far there have been three EPs (»Crimson« in 2014, »Drowning In Red« in 2015, »Phantom Limb« in 2022) and an album, »Into The Mess« in 2017, all of which were released on the Brazilian label Abraxas Records. Red Mess released their second album »Breathtaker« on October 14, 2022 via All Good Clean Records (Norway) and started their first European tour in autumn same year.
And, especially live, Red Mess concerts are an impressive and very emotional experience. This is exactly what should be captured in the recordings and »Breathtaker« (2022) can actually convey this energy. Producer Galego Teixeira attended numerous Red Mess concerts and tried to capture the raw sound of the band that he experienced in the boiling hot, tropical Brazilian bars.
