On September 12, 2026, Sound Of Liberation will host its first-ever SOL Festival, an open air event in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and a true homecoming for everyone involved.
For more than 20 years, Sound Of Liberation has been a firmly established name within the international stoner, psych and desert rock scene. What began as a DIY booking agency in Laudenbach am Main in the early 2000s has grown into a multifaceted company with its own label, responsible for numerous festivals and tours throughout Germany and Europe.
The first SOL Festival in its home region takes place for a very special reason: My Sleeping Karma are celebrating their 20th anniversary. Together with longtime companions, friends and promising newcomers from the regional scene, the one-day festival combines scene spirit with local roots while also marking the grand finale of Aschaffenburg’s Sommerbühne 2026.
Opening the festival are Aschaffenburg’s Abzug, blending motorik rhythms, psych rock and kraut-influenced sounds, alongside new formation Noisy Valet, featuring members of Electric Jugs, Dead Taste, Clear Gash, Abzug and Shocktroopers. Describing their sound as “Dull Music”, the band combine murky psychedelic comedown rock with repetitive rhythms, dense layers of sound and noisy guitars.

Darmstadt’s Lucid Void take things further into psychedelic territory with atmospheric guitars, hypnotic grooves and progressive dynamics, followed by Dortmund’s Daily Thompson and their raw blend of fuzz rock and grunge. Berlin’s Rotor, one of Germany’s defining instrumental bands, bring more than two decades of heavy stoner riffs, progressive elements and rhythmic precision to the stage.
The emotional highlight of the evening comes from My Sleeping Karma themselves, whose atmospheric soundscapes, warm guitar melodies and organic grooves will turn their 20th anniversary show into a very special hometown celebration.
Beyond the music, visitors can expect a carefully curated supporting programme featuring longtime partners and friends of Sound Of Liberation. Among them are Ecomerch/Luvgreen with sustainable merchandise concepts, Aschaffenburg-based Demon Pedals with handcrafted pedalboards, and alternative second-hand store Bananaboot. A small SOL “stoner flea market” will also offer a selection of leftovers and finds from the past 20 years. SOL Festival is an open and family-friendly outdoor event. Children and teenagers aged 16 and under receive free admission.
The night continues after the festival with the official aftershow party at Hannebambel, where DJ DemjanSky will round things off with a mix of psychedelic rock, stoner, desert grooves and downtempo.
Special thanks go to the Cultural Office of Aschaffenburg, whose Sommerbühne provides the setting for this special festival day and makes the first SOL Festival possible. The event brings together music, community and atmosphere while providing the final highlight of Sommerbühne Aschaffenburg 2026.
