Qarqarot is a British-Armenian four-piece symphonic doom band founded in May 2025. The band was born out of the Vanadzor alternative scene, bringing together musicians looking for a slower, heavier sound that stands apart from Armenia’s more established black and prog metal scenes.
Their debut album, »When Will Dawn Break At Last?«, is the culmination of this journey, recorded in the UK at YB Studios in 2026. Drawing on their ties to northern Armenia, the band takes five tales and poems by Hovhannes Tumanyan as inspiration. Across these five tracks, Qarqarot explores Armenian folk, classical, and liturgical tonalities and harmonies through crushing doom riffs, broad orchestral textures, and melodic vocals.

“An exploration of Armenian tonality through doom, weaving together classical music, folk themes, and liturgical melodies into crushing riffs and atmospheric soundscapes. All songs are based on tales and poetry by the amazing author Hovhannes Tumanyan.”
