UK psychedelic doom rockers Amon Acid release their new full-length album »Ikaros«; out today via Echodelick Records & Weird Beard Records!

Leeds, UK based psychedelic doom rockers Amon Acid are back with their new full-length album, »Ikaros«, which was just released this Friday, September 4th, 2026 via Echodelick Records and Weird Beard Records.

The band known as Amon Acid deliver 5 jams that were recorded during the same sessions as their up and coming album. Allowing themselves to fully pursue each musical thread, the band ended up with two albums instead of one.

Anyone that has seen the band live might have heard the first ritual, »Aman Ariman« in different versions but this is the first time it was recorded as they play it live.

»Melead« was made up in the studio and what starts as an Anatolian folk psych idea, ends in a repetitive freakish psych riff that will satisfy the band’s oldest fans.

»Labyrinth« is the most Acid folk offering of the 4 piece so far, driven by the dreamy groove of a doumbek drum rhythm that carries memories of 60’s bands like Kaleidoscope and Electric Prunes.

Any self respecting 70’s jam album needs a blues rock track and »Grazer« takes that place, a heavy, fuzzed out, one riff song that reminds us of Edgar Broughton band, John Lee Hooker and even a bit of Tom Waits.

Finally we land with »Ikaros« to find peace in its tangerine coloured sound which was influenced by a certain German musical movement of the 70’s, with its layers of atmospheric synthesisers.

»Ikaros« is a homage to the acid folk and kraut bands of the 70’s with an emphasis on improvisation, and if maybe there is less doom riffs than usual in this release (the following album will have plenty of those) it is more varied in its sonic explorations. It is the band’s space jam album delivered in a limited run with a sound that almost takes us back to the early days of Amon Acid when they were an experimental two piece.
